Nature advocacy
Marina is co-founder and current chair of Lough Grainey Nature Sanctuary in county Clare.
I am part of an amazing and dedicated group of people who look after a beautiful and unique semi-wild piece of land in the Grainey valley in Ireland, which we have dedicated to nature restoration, rewilding and protection of biodiversity. We are passionate about working with our community to inspire more people to help restore Nature, protect and improve the water quality in our local rivers and lake, and to mind this unique and beautiful valley where we live.
In 2025, I made a documentary film about our valley, called Loch Gréine: A Bright Vision. This film was a labour of love and included interviews with fourteen local people about our shared love of this valley, its heritage, ancient mythology, biodiversity, traditions, and ways in which we can help protect it.
